Josie is Copenhagen’s newest pop group, formed in 2023 and consisting of four friends Charlotte, Dawn, Martin and Anton. Originally a trio, they recorded an early demo before Anton joined on drums, solidifying their lineup and setting the stage for their debut album.
Their debut album, A Life on Sweets Alone, is set to be released on the legendary K Records and Perennial, delivering a raw and infectious mix of jangle, wistfulness and attitude.
Josie blends poetic yet relatable lyrics with a rough-edged pop-punk sensibility. Fans of Talulah Gosh, Shop Assistants, and Tiger Trap will feel right at home in Josie’s world, where dreamy melodies and jangly guitars meet woozy vocals but retain the genres original punky “fuck you”-energy and propulsive rhythm section.

A Life on Sweets Alone shows a band with songwriting chops to rival the best in any genre. Songs such as Cupid Strikes a Blow and My Boy and I are irresistibly catchy but introduce enough twists and turns to keep listeners on their toes - the latter almost turning into a two minute mini-epic. These Days and Always are both compact twee-punk pocket knife stabs, while If You and Falling Apart are classic ballads sure to bring comfort to any lonely bedroom listener.
In their first year-and-change Josie shared stages with all time greats Shonen Knife, power pop icon Paul Collins, legendary punk band Gorilla Angreb as well as an array of local and international punk rockers. Following their debut album, Josie will surely reach stages far beyond their home country.
With their playful take on indie pop, Josie brings a fresh perspective to a classic sound—and they’re just getting started.
